Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian German film and TV actress best known for her performances in films such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. The actress was born as the sole son of Romanian film actor Valentin Platareanu. In her early teens she portrayed the lead part in a variety of dramas on television. Her critically acclaimed performance in the television film Der Tunnel paved way for more notable roles like that of Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge in the commercially and critically popular Oscar nominated historical war drama film Downfall. The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex are also Oscar nominated films that feature female stars. Alexandra has been involved in many noteworthy projects, both in the United States as well as internationally. Among others, these projects comprise British biographical films, the British Control Greek Drama film The Dust of Time French Historical Miniseries Napoleon and many more. She also remained member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival and the Transylvania International Film Festival.
